Taichi is doing something selfish, BUT, it's not at anybody elses' cost other than being morally wrong. He lost his brother, and used his genius to revive the body and recreate him. It didn't work 100% right, and thus we have Rito (later on, Haruna as well).
He's a little brother who lost his older twin and couldn't bear to live like that. After Toki committed suicide, Taichi found him soon after. Instead of going through the appropriate procedures, he used his genius to bring Toki back. Essentially, all he accomplished is getting the body up and running again by machine, and a brain that needed to be programmed. It ended up becoming Rito.
Ryker (and Tessa) are the reasons Toki committed suicide. And they want Taichi to give up Rito and Haruna. To kill Rito and Haruna.
Flip it though. Ryker and Tessa, true, were quite hostile to Toki. They blackmailed and pushed him to build them a robot (that would be Luca). They later find out Toki committed suicide, for whatever reasons he had. And honestly, they weren't the final straw. Noelle was the final straw that led to his untimely demise. And now he's Rito. And Rito's killed Noelle. Who is now Haruna. Let them rest in peace.
So, whose the bad guy here?
