We have Ruth and Lexi here. Ruth is the original life, and Lexi is the reincarnation! O vO!!! While both girls share having turbulent romantic relationships, Ruth fully disillusions herself into believing it's true love (which her partner, Daniel, does basically the same thing). Lexi, on the other hand, had a very loving relationship until Carter went into a depression and essentially stopped functioning, and pushed her out.
When she broke up with him tho, is when he decided he wanted her (and Jack) back.
Abigail is the original life on the left, and Madison is the reincarnation on the right! In this situation, Abby ended up not surviving the ship, having her throat slashed by Daniel [and then creepily being claimed as his daughter with Ruth later]. She had also had one more injury, I believe to the gut. But the throat is what did her in.
Madison got lucky, and made it off the island. Being Charlie's niece might have gave her some leeway, tho his mind was on the others and not so much her, tbh.
